Synopsis

In August of 20xx, a portal to a parallel world, known as the "Gate," suddenly appeared in Ginza, Tokyo. Monsters and troops poured out of the portal, turning the shopping district into a bloody inferno.

Background

was initially serialized online on the novel contribution site between 2006 and 2009. In 2010, it was published by Alphapolis in a hard-cover edition with cover illustrations by Daisuke Izuka. Compared to the online serialization, this edition placed lesser weight on political commentary. The third volume was substantially rewritten and contained a different ending. Between 2012 and 2013, the series was re-published in a 10-volume paperback edition with illustrations done by Kurojishi.
